Surgical treatment

If conservative treatment fails or a highly acute disease occurs a surgical treatment can be necessary.

A lot of operations can be done in an outpatient setting. More complex surgeries with an intensified postoperative care need an inpatient setting (e.g. total joint arthroplasty, spinal surgery).

The outpatient clinic is at the Hospital Fürstenfeldbruck. All the relevant information the patient needs will be given on an appointment at the Orthopaedic Practice Planegg.

The inpatient clinics are the Hospital Munich Pasing and the Hospital Wolfratshausen. All information about the surgery and necessary preoperative examinations are given at the Orthopaedic Practice.

Kyphoplasty at vertebral fractures

Kyphoplasty is a surgical method used to stabilize minimally invasive ill and ruptured vertebrals by supplementation with bone cement. We use this method for patients with osteoporotic vertebral fractures and vertebral ruptures (osteoporosis, tumours, metastases, traumata).

The indication is only implemented if, despite adequate pain treatment and physiotherapy, the patient is still suffering from undiminishingly strong (chronic) back pain.

For kyphplasty, initially, the concerned area is raised up by a ballon which has been placed into the ruptured vertebra. Subsequently, the constructed cavity is filled with bone cement. The surgery takes approximately 20 minutes for each vertebral.

Kyphoplasty enables significant pain reduction and prevents further rupture of the concerned vertebras. It shows significant pain reduction.
