Conservative treatment
The terminus “orthopaedics” comas from the greek “ortho” (straight, upright) and “paedo” (child) -> it means the upright child. The first mention was from the french doctor Nicholas Andry in 1741.
The historical core of orthopedic work was the treatment of deformities with splints.
The modern conservative treatment means:
- Selective infiltrations of the spine under guidance x-ray or CT-scan
- Dressings, taping, casts
- Infusion therapy for pain
- Physiotherapie, chiropractic therapy
- Aids like insoles, orthotics and bandages
- Consultation for behaviory, sports activities
