Intervertebral disc prosthesis

The aim of this surgical technique is to remove the vertebral disc induced pain whereas to preserve the natural flexibility of the spine.

The original, worn out disc is replaced by an artificial disc. Requirements for this indication: no other wearout induced spinal alteration.

 

In the surgery we remove the degenerated disc entirely and replace it by a disc prothesis between the vertebrals. The disc prothesis is attached to the adjacent vertebrals to enable its ingrowth. The function of the disc prothesis enables a flexibility that is very close to the natural flexibility of the spine.
